Wayne Edwin Eister

Wayne Edwin Eister, 89, of Danville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on July 27, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. He was born on August 20, 1928 in Shamokin, PA the son of the late Uriah B. and Jennie Grace Wolfgang Eister.

Wayne graduated from Shamokin High School in 1947.

 

He was married for 44 years to the late S. Louise Haddock Eister who preceded him in death January 3, 1994.  He was a devoted husband to Dot Stump Willoughby for 18 years, who survives.  They were married September 25, 1999.

He served his country in the United States Navy as a Corpsman for two years stationed in Bethesda, Maryland. 
Wayne was employed by Danville State Hospital as a medical attendant and later as a chemical operator for Merck and Company for 39 years, from where he retired.

 

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Danville PA.  An avid music lover and accomplished trombonist, Wayne played in a wide number of area bands where he was wholeheartedly involved, including the Danville Community Band.  He was also a member of the American Music Association and the American Modeler’s Association.  Wayne enjoyed woodworking and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.  He will be greatly missed by his family whom he adored.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Jeffrey W. Eister and his wife Patty of Danville PA and Kevin E. Eister and his wife Kara of Burnt Hills NY and three daughters; Marsha K. Pehowic and her husband Andrew J. of Danville PA; Barbara L. Roth and her husband James D. of Danville PA and Robyn E. Styer and her husband Todd A. of Millville PA.  Also surviving is one stepson, Jeffrey A. Willoughby and his wife Becca of Danville and one stepdaughter, Elaine L. Kuhn and her husband Richard of Selinsgrove PA.  He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; M. Louise Eister and Caroline Schrepple; both of Danville PA.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one daughter; Karen L. Eister Gerst on March 18, 2018 and one brother, Myron L. Eister in January of 2012.

 

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend at Celebration of Wayne’s life to be held Wednesday August 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 215 East Market Street, Danville, PA with the Reverend Trevor Hahn officiating. Friends will be received from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville, PA.  Military rites will be accorded by the Danville American Legion Post 40.
