Paul J. Cotner, 70, of Danville, PA was welcomed into the arms of Jesus
Christ, his Savior, on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Geisinger Medical
Center, Danville. He was born February 10, 1948 in Danville PA the son of
the late Ralph J. and Annette Mottern Cotner.
Paul graduated from Danville High School in 1967. He received his R.N.
Degree in Nursing in 1970 at Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing and
later graduated from Anesthesia School at Geisinger Medical Center in 1972.
Paul received his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Duquesne University in
1992 and his Master’s Degree in Nursing from Susquehanna University in 1993.
Paul was employed as a nurse anesthetist at Geisinger Medical Center from
He was a member of First Baptist Church Danville PA where he and his wife
were instrumental in starting the “Bells of Joy” Bell Choir Ministry enjoyed
by so many today. He was also a member of The Bloomsburg Elks.
Paul thoroughly enjoyed traveling and loved animals. His spirit of
light-heartedness, generosity and passion for God will be missed by all who
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Carol Gable Cotner, whom he
married September 5, 1970. He is also survived by one sister; Nancy E.
Cotner Vandergrift and her husband Gary of Mechanicsburg PA. Also surviving
is one niece, Lori Lee McCaffery and two nephews; Lawrence G. McCaffery and
James P. McCaffery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Paul’s Life on
Thursday December 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside
Drive, Danville, PA, (Off 642 East) with the Reverend Dawes J. Dunham
officiating assisted by the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland. Friends will
be received from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows
