Lester Mutchler


June 12, 2018


Lester Mutchler, 89, of Danville PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 11, 2018 at his residence.  He was born July 7, 1928 in Jersey Shore PA the son of the late Foster and Martha Lehman Mutchler. 

He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1946.  Lester served his country in the United States Navy from 1947-1950 as a Radarman 3rd Class on the USS Philippine Sea (CV-47). 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Myers Mutchler of Williamsport PA.  They were married December 30, 1951. 

Lester was employed for 35 years by Acme Markets in Williamsport where he was Night Manager. 

He was a member of Maranatha Bible Church in Linden PA.  He faithfully attended Friendship Baptist Church in Watsontown PA and later attended  First Baptist Church of Danville PA. 

Lester was an avid Phillies baseball fan.  He loved to hunt and fish.  He had a quick wit, a relentless work ethic and drive for life, being constant and steady in providing for his family.   His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and his grandchildren whom he adored. 

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry L. Foust of Danville PA and three step-children; Fred Yeager and his wife Barb of Milton PA; Carol Hall and her husband Keith of Linden PA and Nan Kleese and her husband Bill of Tucson AZ.  Also surviving are 17 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great grandchildren.    

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law,  Larry Foust; one brother, Dan Mutchler; one sister, Lois Stryker and one grandson, Keith Hall, Jr. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Lester’s Life to be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 12 Brookside Drive Danville PA (off 642 East) with the Reverend Dawes J. Dunham officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Montgomery PA where Military Rites will be accorded. Friends will be received from 9:30 – 10:45 AM at the church 

The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to Word of Life WOLBI Owen Sound – BI Scholarship 088C7S / 71 Olmstedville Road Pottersville NY  12860.
