Boy Sorensen, 68, of Riverside, passed away peacefully in his sleep
surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Geisinger
Medical Center in Danville.
born July, 28, 1950 in Jamaica, New York, the son of the late John E. and
Angela L. (Arado) Sorensen.
attended Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ and graduated from East Stroudsburg
High School. He attended East Stroudsburg University and graduated from
Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He
continued his education at Marywood University where he proudly earned his
Master of Social Work.
worked many years as a carpenter with his family and also at Geisinger
Medical Center in the construction department, a Nuclear Plant Operator at
PP&L, and most recently as a professional therapist counseling high risk
adolescents and adults. He took great pride in helping others both
personally and professionally. He was a builder of things and also of
people. John was a member of the Sandy Run Hunting Camp and a former
exalted ruler of the Danville Elks club.
was a caring, soft hearted giver who loved his family deeply. He was a
positive person naturally, committed to smiling at all those he came in
contact with, and he was dedicated to helping people and animals alike. He
sincerely took an interest in the lives and heartaches of others and was
happy to lend an ear and a helping hand. He was light hearted in laughter
and loved playing and telling mischievous jokes. He took great joy in
gardening and was happy to share his beautiful flowers with others. His
gladiolas and hybrid Asiatic lilies were a sight and smell to behold.
survived by his wife, Libby Sorensen whom he married in July 7, 2012.
addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Britta Sorensen and
her husband Kent Kobayashi of Salt Lake City, Utah and their four children;
his son Jazz Sorensen and his wife Micci of Redding, California and their
four children; his step daughter Amy Canzanella of Long Island, NY and her
two children; and his step daughter Jessica Klopp and her husband Brian of
Riverside, PA and their two children. Also surviving are his sisters Joan
Morris of Southbury, CT; Judi Bendixen and her husband Karl of Pocono
Summit, PA; Joyce Primrose and her husband Frank of Culpepper, VA, along
with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
was preceded in death by his precious niece; Amy L. Primrose and his
cherished grandchild, Maxwell V. Sorensen.
private family service will be held at the convenience of the family.
