E. Jean Wintersteen Tigue

E. Jean Wintersteen Tigue, 92, formerly of Danville PA went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Milton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Milton PA.   She was born November 29, 1925 in Lewisburg PA the daughter of the late Charles “Tater” and Pearl Byer Swank. 

She graduated from Lewisburg High School and from the Bloomsburg School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. 

She was married for 36 years to the late Franklin J. Wintersteen whom she married June 8, 1948.  He preceded her in death April 28, 1985.  She was then married for 23 years to the late Tom Tigue who preceded her in death in 2014.

 Jean was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church Danville PA, which is now situated on the property owned by her father-in-law, John P. Wintersteen.  Her other memberships included the Montour County Historical Society and the Knitting Club.

 She was employed as a nurse at Bloomsburg Hospital and later as a Home Health Aide. 

Jean enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting.  One of her other passions was painting. She was a devoted mother and her most precious memories were those spent with her family. 

She is survived by three sons; David Wintersteen and his wife Sue of Danville PA; James Wintersteen and his wife Linnae of Millville PA and Roger Wintersteen and his wife Lynn of Danville PA and one daughter; Linda Wells and her husband David of Swansea Illinois.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jim Palmer in 1994. 

A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held Monday, January 15, 2018 at First Baptist Church 12 Brookside Drive (Off 642 East) Danville PA at 10:00 AM.  Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM.  Burial will be follow at Columbia Hill Cemetery Danville PA.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund 12 Brookside Drive Danville PA 17821.
