Richard Allen Oberdorf

Richard Allen Oberdorf, 60, of 20 Moser Road, Danville, PA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his residence.     He was born March 3, 1956 in Danville, Pennsylvania the son of the late Raymond and Rosa “Rosie” Neaus Oberdorf. 

He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Helen I. Keefer Oberdorf of 43 years. They were married on August 25, 1973. 

He attended Columbia Montour Vo-Tech. 

Rick was employed as a line lead at Big Heart Pet Brand in Bloomsburg PA from where he retired in 2016 due to his battle with cancer. 

Rick enjoyed spending time with his family.  His grandchildren were the light of his life.  He also had a passion for auctions and collecting antiques. 

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by one son, James L. Keefer and his wife Beth of Danville PA and two daughters; Meredith A. Notestine and her husband Joshua L. and Loren R. Oberdorf; both of Shamokin PA.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren.  He is also survived by three sisters; Pamela Hoover and her husband Ron of Danville PA, Patricia Wolever of Northumberland PA and Janice Ford and her husband Larry of Riverside PA.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by one brother, Spencer “Buck” Oberdorf. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Lloyd Calvin officiating.   Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park Bloomsburg PA.  Friends will be received Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
