Robert H. R. Loughborough, 92, of Danville PA passed away Friday, September
15, 2017 at Emmanuel Nursing Center Danville PA. He was born September 6,
1925 in New York NY the son of the late Reverend Robert H. R. and Grace V.
Burt Loughborough, Sr.
attended Greenwich Academy in Greenwich CT, Morrow School in Englewood NJ,
St. Bernard’s School in New York NY, St. Paul’s School in Concord NH and
graduated from Trinity School in New York NY in June 1943. Robert served in
the United States Navy from July 1, 1943 until June 22, 1946. He was a
student at Union College in Schenectady NY and graduated from Yale
University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree on June 20, 1949 where he was
elected to Phi Beta Kappa (Alpha of Connecticut) on January 10, 1949. He
received the Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Yale Divinity School New Haven
CT on June 9, 1952. He received his Master’s of Divinity Degree on May 15,
Loughborough was ordained a Presbyterian minister by the Presbytery of New
York City on October 7, 1952 and served as Assistant Pastor at Central
Presbyterian Church, Montclair NJ from 1952 – 1955. He was the pastor of
the First Presbyterian Church of Coudersport PA from 1955 – 1960. He was
assistant pastor of the State Street Presbyterian Church, Schenectady NY
from 1960 to 1963. Rev. Loughborough then attended graduate studies at
Temple University in Philadelphia PA. From 1965 to 1974 he was the Pastor
of Mahoning Presbyterian Church in Danville PA. Following this, he served
as Pastor of Marion and Harmony Presbyterian Churches of Belle Vernon PA.
From 1978 to 1981 he attended graduate studies at Montclair State University
in Upper Montclair NJ. His final pastorate was at the Roscoe Presbyterian
Church of Roscoe PA and he officially retired January 1, 1987. In April of
2006, he published a book of 31 sermons entitled “Love Within Walls”.
He resided in Danville PA until his death.
volunteered at Geisinger Medical Center for over 18 years beginning in
February 1986. and at the House of Care in Danville. His memberships
included Danville Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed reading, stamp and coin

East Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Graham Rogers
officiating. Burial will be private in the Southampton Cemetery in
Southampton NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Mahoning Presbyterian
