Mildred N. "Nancy" Gerst

Mildred N. “Nancy” Gerst ,79, of Danville PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Grandview Health Homes in Danville. PA   She was born July 20, 1938 in Riverside PA the daughter of the late Dr. Perman L.  and Corene B Stevenson. 

She graduated from St. Cyril Academy in Danville PA in 1954. 

She was married for 45 years to the Late William G. Gerst who preceded her in death August 29, 2005.  They were married April 4, 1960. 

Nancy was employed in earlier years as a dietary aide at Geisinger Medical Center.  Later she was employed as a housekeeper at the Best Western Hotel in Danville PA for several years, from where she retired. 

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church Danville PA where she worked in the secretarial office and served faithfully volunteering wherever there was a need. 

Nancy was a dedicated wife and mother.  Her passion in life was her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, whom she adored.  One of Nancy’s favorite activities was dancing which she enjoyed immensely as well as reading. She will be remembered for her servant heart to many, touching countless lives over the years. 

She is survived by two sons; William C. Gerst and his wife Cathy; Charles R. Gerst and his wife Kim, and one daughter, Tracey Pochekailo and her companion Nevin; all of Danville PA.  Also surviving are three grandsons; Terry, Donald and Cory. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service to be held Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA with the Reverend Trevor J. Hahn officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church PO Box 417 Danville PA 17821.
