Laurence L. "Larry" Rhone

Laurence L. “Larry” Rhone, 78, of Bloomsburg PA passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. PA with his wife by his side.   He was born September 3, 1939 in Bloomsburg, the son of the late Murrel A. and M. Hazel Cashner Rhone. 

He attended Bloomsburg Schools. 

Larry was married for 58 years to Elaine Fetterman Rhone, who survives.  They were married September 19, 1959. 

He served as a sergeant with the United States Army National Guard, Howitzer Battery, 1st Recon Squadron, 104th Armd Cav., Danville PA from 1962 – 1968. 

He was last employed as a fork lift mechanic for Action Lift, Inc., West Pittston PA.  As a sideline, he worked as an electrician wiring new homes. 

Larry was a member of Saint Peter’s Union Church (Harger’s), Bloomsburg PA and the American Legion Post 273 Bloomsburg PA. 

Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and watching old western movies. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Barbara Rhone Davis and her husband Trell of Bernville PA and Denise Rhone of Catawissa PA.  Also surviving are two grandsons; Connor Lee and Landon Laurence Davis.  He is also survived by one sister, Donna Stackhouse of Berwick PA and a half-brother, Rodney Rhone of Catawissa PA.  Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, the Reverend James Fetterman and Ildefonso Gonzalez-Rivera of Oakland Park FL and one sister-in-law, Laura Rhone of Catawissa as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Rhone; two half-sisters; Jacqueline Rhone and Katherine Breisch and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Stackhouse. 

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
