John E. Kirkner, 55, formerly of Danville, PA, unexpectedly passed away on
January 11, 2017, at his residence in Williamsport, PA. He is survived by
his parents Robert R. and Alta M. (Brosius) Kirkner of Danville, PA and his
siblings Robert L. Kirkner of Riverside, PA, Jane M. (Kirkner) and Evan J.
Sutton of Chambersburg, PA, Amy L. (Kirkner) and Jason A. Landis of
Schuylkill Haven, PA, by his nieces and nephews Alisha L. Kirkner, Derek R.
Kirkner, Elizabeth J. Sutton, Sarah G. Sutton, and his companion Barb Moll.
He was a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church located in Danville, PA.
John was born on August 16, 1961 at Geisinger Medical Center. He was a 1979
graduate of Danville High School, home of the Ironmen!
He went on for training at the Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown, PA and
received his driver’s license to drive using hand controls. He later went on
to perform the death defying Danville flaming car trick! He held many jobs
most notably his first job at Sunnybrook Park in Danville and his ten years
working in foster care where he processed applications. All through his
life, John was interested in technology where early on he went by the CB
handle “Ironside.” He was a TV junky, a computer nerd, and an avid sports
fan to include the NY Yankees and the Danville Ironmen!
John was a very
social and friendly person giving a smile to all those around him. His
greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends
creating many loving memories to be cherished by those who survive him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of John’s life to
be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home,
Inc., 10 West Mahoning Street, Danville, PA 17821 with the Reverend Trevor
J. Hahn officiating. Friends will be received from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will
