Bernice A. Sheatler

Bernice A Sheatler, 92, of Danville PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Emmanuel Nursing Center Danville, PA.   She was born July 19, 1925 in Danville PA the daughter of the late William and Minnie Mong Barnhart.  

She graduated from Danville High School in 1943 

Bernice was married for 65 years to Vorie F. Sheatler who preceded her in death January 18, 2015.  They were married December 10, 1949. 

She was employed as an appointment secretary at Geisinger Medical Center for 20 years, from where she retired. 

Bernice was a member of St. Paul’s Emmanuel United Methodist Church Danville PA. 

Bernice cherished her family and will be remembered for her delicious home cooking and her baking, especially the beautiful trays of Christmas cookies she made each year.  She also enjoyed crocheting. 

She is survived by two daughters; Elaine Showalter and her husband Stephen of Danville PA and Cynthia K. Bishop of Elysburg PA.  Also surviving are two grandchildren; Stephanie Otts, Esquire and John Wesley Showalter, M.D.; both of Mississippi.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Abigail, Anna, John Andrew, Ava Joy and Adeline. 

 She was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters and by her son-in-law, Reynold J. “Renny” Bishop who preceded her in death on May 1, 2013. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Pastor Greg Molter officiating. Friends will be received from 10:30 AM until the time of service.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis TN  38105 or St. Paul’s Emmanuel United Methodist Church 417 Pine Street Danville PA 17821.  www.Visneski.com
