Benjamin Joe Hess, 76, of Danville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Grandview Health Homes, Inc. Danville PA.
He was born December 19, 1940 in Bloomsburg PA the son of the late Joe and
Betty Zimmerman Hess.
Hess was a devoted husband to his wife, Barbara Mae Riley Hess for 51
years. They were married November 20, 1965.
earlier years, he was a farmer and also worked as a well driller for Russell
Hornberger Well Drilling in Washingtonville Pennsylvania for 20 years.
the help of family and friends he built Thunder Mountain Mobile Home Park,
Hess Hill Road Danville Pennsylvania throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Then
alongside his wife, he owned and operated Thunder Mountain Mobile Home Park
for 42 years.
Through his achievements of building and operating the Park he directly
touched hundreds if not thousands of lives.
continues to touch lives even after he has passed; his porches, decks, roads
and roofs continue to keep us above the mud and out of the rain.

Hess had many enjoyments in his life which included walking his dogs, mowing
grass, fishing, hunting and camping. He loved taking car rides and dining
out with his wife. He thoroughly enjoyed running his mobile home park and
was well known as “Mr. Fixit” as he could fix anything. He loved nature and
thoroughly enjoyed feeding the birds, deer and whatever else came to the
“banquet table”. Mr. Hess was a very selfless person, always putting others
first and willing to give you the shirt off his back.
Benjamin J Hess had a full and happy life, with camping adventures in
Florida, driving to Texas (without air conditioning), hunting bears in
Canada, catching record fish in Pennsylvania and building and fixing many
addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers; Robert L. Hess and his
wife Ruth and William R. Hess and his wife Susan and one sister, Jean
Seroskie and her husband Leonard ; all of Danville PA. Also surviving are
numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held on
Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hendrickson United Methodist Church
350 Cameltown Hill Road Danville PA with Pastor Lisa A. Mitchell
officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the
church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will provide
flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Condolences may
