Ruth D. James, 90

Ruth D. James, 90, of Danville, PA, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her residence.  She was born September 11, 1925 in Milton, PA, the daughter of the late Earl O. Sr. and Pearl V. (Bogart) Dye and was raised by her late step-mother, Ada F. (Gramley) Dye.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. James, Sr. on September 28, 2013 whom she married, April 6, 1962.

She graduated from Milton High School in 1944.

Ruth was employed for 16 years by the Danville Area School District as the head cook for Liberty Valley Elementary School retiring in 1990. She was also a Liberty Township Tax Collector.  

Ruth was a member of Mooresburg United Methodist Church, Mooresburg, PA.

She enjoyed camping, bluegrass music, and traveling to Nashville on bus trips with her husband. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is also survived by five sons; Edward E. Aikey and wife Bonnie of Milton, PA, Larry E. Aikey and wife Jane of Danville, Ronald E. Aikey and wife Caren of Florida, Timothy T. James and wife Grace of Danville, PA and Randy E. James and his fiance, Tina Kristoff of Danville.  Ruth is also survived by one daughter; Sandra E. Romig and husband William, Jr. of Millville, PA.  Ruth is also survived by two sisters; Isabelle and Joann as well as one brother, Foster. 

Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by four sisters, Viola, Alverna, Betty, Violet and one brother Earl, Jr.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice, 410 Glenn Avenue, Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or the Alzheimer's Association, 57 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-1309.
