Jeffrey George Dietz

Jeffrey George Dietz, 60, of Danville PA  went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, January 11, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA surrounded by his children and his family. He was born October 25, 1955 in Danville PA  the son of the late George R. and Beaulah Mae Reeder Dietz. 

He attended Danville Schools.  He graduated from Columbia Montour VoTech in 1974 majoring in culinary arts and as the valedictorian of his Senior Class. 

Jeff was employed as a chef at Frosty Valley Country Club, Selinsgrove Country Club, Danville Moose and was Catering and Food Service Director at Bloomsburg College.  He was also employed in the power industry where he worked for over 20 years at PP&L and retired in 2013 from Wisconsin Power in Shamokin Dam PA. 

He was a member of The Danville Moose and Danville Elks. 

Jeff's work ethic was exemplary.  He loved working with his hands, especially on his property.  He was well known as an outstanding pastry chef including beautifully made wedding cakes.  His luscious apple pies were always in demand and he made scrumptious Coleslaw.  Jeff thoroughly enjoyed outdoor expeditions including fishing and hunting, especially his Canada fishing trips with his father and Uncle Phil Raup. Jeff was a history buff concentrating on The American Revolution and World War II.  He loved the cinema and watching movies.  The greatest joy in Jeff's life was spending time with his family whom he adored and especially family vacations to the beach.  Jeff was always in attendance at his grandchildren's extracurricular activities including concerts, plays and various sporting events. He will be greatly missed by them all.   

He is survived by one son, Douglas M. Dietz and his wife April of Mifflinburg PA and two daughters; Lindsey N. Kurtz and her husband Andrew of Watsontown PA and Danielle Dietz and her fiancé Jason Snyder of Danville PA.  He is also survived by four grandchildren; Cale, Nathan, Noella and Emily as well as two grandchildren due to arrive in 2016.  Also surviving is his sister, Charmaine L. Frasch of Largo, FL, his Aunt Phyllis Rachel Oberdorf and her daughter Ruth Ann.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his companion Dena Hofmann and his former wife of over 25 years and long time friend Donna Rae Balducci Dietz of Danville.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Rodney Scott Dietz. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jeff's Life to be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend James Bond, Revival Tabernacle, officiating.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to Montour County Historical Society 1 Bloom Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
