Carl A. 'Reds' Nevius

Carl A. ‘Reds’ Nevius, 75, of 425 Columbia Hill Rd., Danville, PA, went peacefully home with the Lord, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 30, 1941 in Danville, PA, the son of the late William ‘Bill’ and Alice (Bell) Nevius.

Fifty years ago Carl married his lifelong sweetheart Norma (Sterling) Nevius.

He graduated from Danville Senior High School in 1958 where he was a noted athlete. Carl attended classes at Bloomsburg State University.

He served his country in the United States National Guard.

Carl was employed by PP&L as a multiple crew foreman for 40 years.

He was a member of the Washies and East End Fire Companies.

Carl was the 1957 Regional Soap Box Derby Champion. He coached successfully in the Danville Little League and was instrumental in having lights installed at the Little League field. He was an avid sportsman, especially hunting and fishing at his favorite location Little Pine State Park. Carl’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending with his family, his good friends Stephen ‘Rundy’ Stoudt and Larry Rudy, and his faithful companion, his dog, Buster.

Carl is survived by four sons; Jeff Nevius and his wife Shirley; Brian Nevius and his companion Becki; Russ Nevius and Heidi and Greg Nevius and his wife Lori. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Logan, Hannah and Blake. Also surviving is one brother; Randy Nevius.

Carl was preceded in death by two brothers; David Nevius and William ‘Bunk’ Nevius and one sister; Carol Nevius.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
