Austin H. Geise

Austin H. Geise, 98, of Danville, PA died peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall Danville PA. He was born December 9, 1917 in Point Twp., Northumberland County PA the son of the late Fred and Olive Heiser Geise. 

He was married for 70 years to the late Alice B. Geise who preceded him in death October 17, 2014.  They were married November 28, 1943. 

He graduated from Northumberland High School in 1936. 

Austin was a self-employed farmer and also worked in  the Farming Department of the Danville State Hospital for over 30 years from where he retired. 

He was a member of the Washingtonville Lutheran Church in Washingtonville, PA.

His other memberships included the Washingtonville Fire Company. 

With a deep love for farming, he always enjoyed riding his tractor and raising chickens.  He created over 100 beautiful stained glass lampshades.  He was a faithful supporter of his grandson, watching him play football. Austin's greatest enjoyment in life was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

 He is  survived by one son; Richard A. Geise of Tower City, PA and one daughter, Janet M. Engler of Coopersburg, PA.  Also surviving are three grandchildren; Lindy Hostetler, Gina Geise, and William A. Engler. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; Lucas, Landon, and Hayden Hennessey, Payton and Bryce Engler. He is also survived by one sister, Emma Wert of Selinsgrove PA.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Franklin and Edwin. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West Mahoning Street, Danville, PA 17821 with his pastor, the Reverend Melody Sell officiating.    Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until the time of service.  Burial will be held in Northumberland Memorial Park, Sunbury, PA.
