Ruth Mildred Karchner

Ruth Mildred Karchner, 94,  of Wake Forest, NC gently passed away on July 16, 2014 in Wake Forest, NC.  Ruth lived in Danville until October of 2003 at which time she moved to North Carolina to be with her family.  She was born on October 13, 1919 in Hazelton Pennsylvania, the daughter of Emma and Henry Holland. 

Ruth graduated from Hazelton High School in 1937.

In June of 1940 she married Quentin Leroy Karchner, her husband of 63 years who preceded her in death in October of 2003.

She was employed at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville in the Admissions Department for several years.  In her earlier years, she worked as a clerk at the Smart Shop in Danville PA.

Ruth was a member of the Shiloh United Church of Christ of Danville PA.

Ruth enjoyed sewing, doing macrame and loved to bake, especially apple pies.  Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family whom she adored.  She will be missed by her family and all those who knew her.

She is survived by one son, Quentin L. Karchner Jr. and his wife Ruth of Wake Forest, NC and one  daughter, Nancy Ann Carrozza and her husband John of Leesburg, FL.  Also surviving are  four grandchildren, Cameron Karchner, Penni Stovall, and Randy Hirneisen of Raleigh, NC and John Joseph Carrozza of Belvidere, Illinois.  She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home 10 West Mahoning Street Danville with the Reverend Mary B. Schmotzer officiating.  Friends will be received from 12:30 PM until the time of service.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.
