H. Davis, 70, of 118 West Mahoning Street Danville PA went home to be with
his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 17, 2014. He was born
January 29, 1944 in Bloomsburg PA the son of the late Melbourne and Hazel
Gottshall Davis. He was married for 48 years to the love of his life,
Cheryl Johnston Davis. They were married March 7, 1966.
graduated from Danville High School in 1962 and from Bloomsburg University
in 1968 with a degree in Business and Economics. He was employed for 34
years by Shumaker Industries in Northumberland PA, from where he retired.
was an active member of First Baptist Church of Danville PA where he served
as Deacon, Trustee and as an usher. He also faithfully drove the church van
for 20 years.
recently volunteered and enjoyed being a coach in the Upwards basketball
program at the church. Ron also enjoyed various sports including bowling,
golf and softball. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening and loved walking. Ron
was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who adored his
family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by them all.
addition to his wife, he is survived by one son; Steven and his wife Rebecca
of Palmyra PA and two daughters; Angela Correll and her husband Timothy of
Rome NY and Danelle Ashenfelder and her husband Seth of New Holland PA. He
was known fondly as “pee-paw” to his seven grandchildren; Brent and Brock
Correll; Micah, Clara and Weston Davis, and Jacob and Alyssa Ashenfelder.
He is also survived by his sister, Judith Kingston and her husband William
of Mansfield PA. Also surviving are two nieces; Michelle Pazzaglia and her
daughters; Hayley and Brynne of Endicott NY and Jeanette Kochman and her son
Alex of Pittsburgh PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ron’s life to
be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20
Brookside Drive (off 642 East) Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H.
Wonderland officiating assisted by the Reverend Dawes Dunham. Friends will
be received from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Memorial contributions may be made
