C. Wertz, 93, 214 Logan Run Road Danville PA passed away Thursday, April 3,
2014 at Emmanuel Nursing Center at Maria Joseph Danville PA. She was born
January 2, 1921 in Columbia County, PA the daughter of the late John and
Ella Brobst Wintersteen.
graduated from Danville High School in 1939. Mrs. Wertz was a homemaker who
assisted her husband on the family farm most of her life. She was a member
of the former Rushtown United Methodist Church where she was involved with
the youth of the church and a member of Klinesgrove United Methodist Church
R1 Sunbury PA. Mrs. Wertz was a Rushtown Northumberland County 4H leader.
She served as a volunteer at Geisinger Medical Center for 20 years.
Wertz was an avid quilter and was especially known, along with her husband,
for crocheting beautiful chair pads and rugs.
was married for 61 years to the late Paul C. Wertz who preceded in death on
August 2, 2005. They were married November 10, 1943.
survived by two sons; Leon C. Wertz and his wife Vivian and Neil P. Wertz
and his wife Susan; both of Danville, PA and two daughters; Alice M. Clark
and her husband John H. of Emmaus, PA and Marian M. Davis and her
husband Tim of Danville, PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Paul S.
Wertz, Vicki M. Meyers, Christopher N. Wertz, Jennifer S. Kappen, Gerald C.
Wertz and Alan J. Wertz and eight great-grandchildren; Marshall, Chloe,
Lillian, Ella, Helen, Allie, Drew and Jane.
surviving are two brothers; Alvin Wintersteen in Buckhorn PA and Harold
Wintersteen of Columbia Hill PA. She was preceded in death by two brothers,
Franklin Wintersteen and a brother in infancy and two sisters; Elsie Snyder
and one sister in early childhood. She is also survived by numerous nieces
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7 at 11:30 AM from the Visneski
Funeral Home, Inc 10 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA with his pastor the
Reverend Lori Betsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows
Cemetery Danville, PA. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time
of service. The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be
