Reverend Calvin R. Beveridge, 88, of 209 East Front Street Danville PA
entered into glory Saturday morning, March 2, 2013 at his residence
surrounded by his family. He was born February 13, 1925 in Primrose PA
the son of the late David R. and Elizabeth Jones Beveridge.
graduated from Cass Township High School in 1943. During World War II, he
served in the Civilian end of the Signal Corps. He received his B.A degree
from Bob Jones University in 1949 followed by his M.A. degree in 1951.
While at Bob Jones University, he was a graduate assistant in the History
Department and Assistant to the Dean of Men from l949-1951. His pastorates
included Copiague Union Church in Copiague, Long Island, NY from 1953-1961;
Park Bible Baptist Church in Pennsville NJ from 1961-1966 and faithfully
served as the pastor the First Baptist Church of Danville PA from
Beveridge was Director of Public Relations at Lancaster Bible College in
Lancaster PA from 1966-1970. He served on the National Board of Directors
of Conservative Baptist Association and the Conservative Baptist Foreign
Mission Society. He also served as Corporation Member of the Calvary
Retirement Homes in Lancaster PA and as a member of the Presidentís Council
at Philadelphia College of the Bible.
Beveridge was a passionate man fully devoted to the God he loved, his faith,
his family and the flock he served. He was an avid Penn State Football fan
and Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed playing golf in his earlier
survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Carradice Beveridge whom he married
on on June 18, 1949. Also surviving are two sons: C. Robin Beveridge and
his wife Linda of Lancaster PA and Gary R. Beveridge and his wife Kathy of
Northumberland PA and one daughter, Carol R. Beabout and her husband Ronald
of Cedar Grove WI. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by one brother, David G. Beveridge in 2010.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held
Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside
Drive Danville PA (off 642 East) with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland
officiating assisted by the Reverend Dawes E. Dunham. Burial will be in
Columbia Hill Cemetery Danville PA. Friends will be received at the church
from 9:45 AM to 11:45 AM. The family will provide flowers. Memorial
contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Missions Fund.
