Margaret Rooney Stroh

Margaret Rooney Stroh, 91, of 109 Bloom Street, Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2013 at Nottingham Village Nursing Center, Northumberland, PA. She was born on November 25, 1922 in Danville, the daughter of the late Francis and Anne Brady Rooney.  

Margaret was married to the late Henry J. Stroh for 61years who preceded her in death on January 22, 2013.  

She was a graduate of Danville High School. She was previously employed at the Kennedy Van Saun Corp., the MW Manufacturing Corp., and retired from the Danville Tax Office in 1987.  

Margaret was devoted to her family and loved to support others in need, especially the St. Labre Native American community and foreign missions. She lived near St. Joseph Catholic Church so she could attend Mass daily. 

She was an accomplished seamstress who could make anything from curtains and upholstery to church vestments, coats and wedding gowns. She was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross and Maria Hall Retirement and Nursing Center for more than 20 years. 

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Paula Couchara and husband Sam of Glenside, PA; grandsons, Sam (Alexandra) of Bethlehem, PA, Jacob of Fairbanks, AK, Stephen (Georgeann) of Yorba Linda, CA, Austin (Michelle) of Carrollton, TX and Andrew of Washington, DC; and great-grandchildren, Corbin and Abigail. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard on October 27, 2013, and her siblings Catherine Coakley, Paul Rooney, Ann Reisig, and Theresa Hunavy.   

The family is very appreciative of the extraordinary quality and loving care that was provided to Margaret and Henry during their final years by the staff of Heather Court and the Nursing Center at Nottingham Village in Northumberland.  

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 20, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 18 Center St., Danville, PA. Friends will be received from 9:00 am at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 10 West Mahoning Street, Danville, PA. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Danville, PA. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 18 Center St., Danville, PA. www.visneski.com
