A. Reinmiller, 90, of 34 Tower View Circle Danville PA since November 17,
1993 passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville
PA. She was born December 12, 1922 in Danville PA the daughter of the late
Frank and Ada Rae Conway Appleman.
was happily married for 22 years to Christian Reinmiller who preceded her in
death on October 23, 1991.
Reinmiller graduated from the Valley Consolidated School in 1936 and from
the Danville High School in 1940 where she was salutatorian of her class.
She was employed by Merck and Company, Inc. as a secretary for 33 years,
retiring in 1985. She had previously worked in the Social Service
Department of Danville State Hospital for 10 years.
was very active in the community, always holding an office in whatever
organization she was involved with. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and
volunteering, especially at the Geisinger Medical Center where she
faithfully volunteered 12,420 hours in various capacities. She especially
enjoyed being at the Reception Desk where she met many friends from the
various groups with which she had been associated and she also volunteered
as a chaplain assistant, visiting with many patients. She also volunteered
at the House and Care and the Maria Joseph Manor.
was an active member of the Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA,
having served as Church Secretary more than 50 years and as the Church
Treasurer for 10 years. Mrs. Reinmiller served on the church Consistory as a
Deacon and Elder, was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Past President of the
Womenís Guild and taught in the Kindergarten Department for many years.
was Secretary of the Central Association of the Penn Central Conference of
the United Church of Christ when it was organized in 1963, and served in
that capacity for 33 years, then served as Vice-President and President of
the Association. She attended three General Synod sessions for the United
Church of Christ. She served as Secretary for the Ramblers Club for over 20
years and escorted numerous trips for the Club all over the country.
Reinmiller was a Past President of the Danville Business and Professional
Womenís Club and the Danville Womenís Club, a Past Matron and District
Deputy of the Danville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; a Past Worthy
High Priestess and District Deputy of the Bloomsburg Chapter of the White
Shrine of Jerusalem; a Past Regent of the Fort McClure Chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution; a Past Officer of the Miquon Chapter
of the Daughters of American Colonists; President of the Danville Acacia
Club Auxiliary; a member of the Montour County Historical Society and the
Columbia-Montour Chapter 1040 of AARP where she organized thirty 55 ALIVE
survived by her step-daughter, Florence Reinmiller of West Hazleton PA and
by her brother, Robert Floyd Appleman and his wife Dona of Springfield,
Illinois. Also surviving are two nephews; Paul Appleman and his wife
Virginia and David Appleman and his wife Peggy Appleman; all of Danville
PA. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.
addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Mary
Ruth Hering, Mildred Snyder and Frances Shaulis and two brothers; John Edwin
and Harold Clark Appleman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held
Tuesday evening, May 14, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Shiloh United Church of Christ
500 Bloom Street Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend Mary B. Schmotzer
officiating. There will be no viewing at Lauraís request. Burial will be
private in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Danville PA. Memorial contributions may
be made to Shiloh United Church of Christ or a charity of the donorís
choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc.
