June R. Bird of 265 Sharp Ridge Road Danville PA, where she had resided since 1946, passed away April 29, 2013 at Columbia-Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall Danville PA.  She was born April 11, 1922 in Shamokin PA the daughter of the late Howard and Quilla Mutchler Miller. 

She was married for 57 years to the late Paul E. Bird who passed away August 29, 2002.  They were married April 1, 1945. 

She attended schools in Shamokin PA and in Elysburg PA and graduated from Ralph Township High School in 1940 and from the Geisinger School of Nursing in 1943.  She was employed at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA as a Staff Nurse and Private Duty Nurse. 

Mrs. Bird was a member of St. Johnís (Voughtís) Lutheran Church, Mayberry Township, Danville PA where she taught Sunday school.  She was also a 4-H Leader and a member of the Elysburg Garden Club.  She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, traveling and baking.  Mrs. Bird was very well known for her delicious candy. 

She is survived by two daughters; Linda J. Bird, with whom she resided and Eleanor R. Bird Hill and her husband Paul of State College PA.  Also surviving are four grandsons; Joseph Dalton and his wife Edi of Quarryville PA; Jeffrey Dalton and his wife Kristi of Newark DE; Billy Jo Clanton and his wife Heidi of Kirkwood PA and Kevin Clanton and his wife Becky of Woodstown NJ and eight great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded by one grandson, Jason Dalton and one great-grandson, Bryce Clanton.  She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 2:30 PM at St. Johnís (Voughtís) Lutheran Church 29 High Road Danville PA with the Reverend R. Christian Dunlap, Columbia-Montour Hospice Chaplain.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Columbia-Montour Home Hospice 410 Glenn Avenue Suite 200 Bloomsburg PA  17815.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
