Darlene (Marcheski) Del Vecchio

September 13, 2013

Darlene (Marcheski) Del Vecchio, age 66, of Berwick, Pennyslvania, died on September 12th, 2013 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.  Darlene was born September 17th, 1946 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania.

Darlene was a graduate of Lourdes High School where she was a majorette with the marching band.

In Darlene’s earliest working days she served as a dental hygienist and later as a receptionist in her husband’s accounting office. Darlene recently retired from the Admissions department of Geisinger HealthSouth. A consummate homemaker, Darlene was an excellent cook and lovingly prepared meals and planned gatherings for family and friends.  Darlene enjoyed community service as a member of the Ladies of the Marine Corps League White Haven Detachment #1039 for which her husband, Lou, serves as Commandant. Darlene’s innocence and happy approach to life brought joy to those spending time in her presence.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father formerly of Shamokin, William ‘Tom’ Pasukinis. Darlene was widowed by her husband of 37 years, Edward Marcheski, Jr. of Danville. She is survived by the children of that union: Edward R. Marcheski, III and wife Becca, Jonathan Marcheski, Jane Marie Henicle and husband Chet, and Jenny Fetterolf and husband Dan. Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Louis Del Vecchio and her stepchildren, Annamarie Fyke and Rocky Del Vecchio and wife Brenda, as well as her sister, Sharon Laird and her mother, Phronie Bramhall Strickland.

Darlene’s grandchildren include Madison, Kylie and Hunter, children of Eddie and Becca Marcheski, as well as Eddie and Keith, sons of Annamarie Fyke. Her great-grandchildren are Aubrey, Kiersten and McKenzie.

The family would like to extend great appreciation for the compassionate and professional care received through the following organizations: the Intensive Care Unit and Oncology Departments of Geisinger Medical Center, Columbia-Montour Home Health and Hospice Care, and the staff of the Medicine Shoppe in Berwick, PA.

Relatives and friends will be received  from 2:00 to 4:00 Monday, September 16th at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with a memorial service immediately following at 4:00 PM with the Reverend Mary B. Schmotzer officiating. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
