Arlene June Zerfing, 87, of Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina, (formerly of Danville, Pa) went to be with the Lord on June
15, 2013. She was born May 7, 1926 in Bloomington Maryland, the daughter of
the late Pastor William Breckbill and Mildred Gerringer Breckbill.
She was a 1944 graduate of Danville High
school and a 1948 graduate of Harrisburg Polyclinic School of Nursing.
In her younger years, she did private duty
nursing at Geisinger Medical Center. She taught Sunday school at Shiloh
United Church of Christ and was a member of the Danville Area School Board
of Directors. Mrs. Zerfing was a member of First Presbyterian Church in
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She enjoyed her church circle and finished a
five year study of the Bible through Bible Study Fellowship International.
Mrs. Zerfing loved her family and spent most
of her time keeping up with them. Her grandchildren describe her as
devoted, understanding, compassionate, fun, and having a one-of-a-kind
laughter. Mrs. Zerfing, “Grandma”, always had them in her prayers and always
remembered every special occasion.
She married her husband, Richard C. Zerfing,
on April 17, 1948. They were married for 57 years, until his death in

Zerfing and his wife Melissa of Danville PA and her daughter Julie Zerfing
Fudge and husband Lawrence of Myrtle Beach SC. Also surviving are her
grandchildren; Laura Lehman and husband Matt; Kate Zerfing, Christy Zerfing,
Rebekah Zerfing, Christopher Fudge and his wife Summer and Cody Fudge. She
is also survived by her great grandchildren Aviana Lehman and Addison
Fudge. Also surviving are her sisters; Sandra Hollen and Nadina Russell.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother William
Breckbill, Jr., sister Violet Breckbill, stepmother Anna Margaret Breckbill,
Uncle Bob and Aunt Bebe Breckbill, Emily and George Dietz, Sr., who raised
her after her mother’s death, and George Dietz Jr.
friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013 at First
Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (Off 642 East) Danville, Pa., followed by
a Celebration of June’s Life to be held at 2:00 PM, with the Reverend Dr.
Harry H. Wonderland officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery,
