Daniel W. Wetzel, 85, of 330 Avenue D Riverside PA passed away Saturday,
October 13, 2012 at his residence. He was born October 24, 1926 in Sunbury
PA the son of the late Daniel W. and Elizabeth Simpson Wetzel.
He graduated from Sunbury High School in 1944. He served in the United
States Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Wetzel was employed for 38 Ĺ
years by TRW, Inc. in Danville PA, retiring in 1987.
Mr. Wetzel was a member of The Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church
Sunbury PA. He was a 50-year member of Sunbury Lodge #22 F & AM where he
served as Master in 1954. He was a member of the Williamsport Consistory
and he was a 32nd degree Mason. His other memberships included
American Legion Post 40 Danville PA and Southside Fire Company in Riverside
PA, where he was a life member.
His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley L. Rowe Wetzel whom he
married June 27, 1953. Also surviving are two sons; William A. Wetzel and
his wife Carol Ann of Riverside PA and Daniel L. Wetzel and his wife Carla
of Danville PA and one daughter, Susan R. Newman and her husband Ralph of RD
Sunbury PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Jason Wetzel and his
wife Nicole, Danielle Gantert and her husband Matthew, Allen Wetzel, M.D.
and his wife Chrissy, Michael Wetzel and his wife Julie, Melissa Stine and
her husband Richard and Matthew Wetzel and his wife Kristine. Also
surviving are 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother,
Richard E. Wetzel of Sunbury PA. He was preceded in death one sister,
Elizabeth K. Apple.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Danielís life
to be held Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at Mount Pleasant United
Methodist Church 668 Renns Road Sunbury PA with the Reverend Lori Betsworth
Burial will be private in Salem Lutheran Cemetery Selinsgrove PA. Friends
will be received from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the church or a charity of the
donorís choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral
Home, Inc 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
