Terry K. McAfee

Terry K. McAfee, 73, of 560 Logan Run Road Danville PA was promoted to glory on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at his residence.  He was born May 24, 1939 in Millersburg PA the son of the late Max Robert and May Elizabeth Kepner McAfee. 

 He graduated from Millersburg High School in 1957.  He graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Elizabethtown College.  He received his Masters Degree in Education from Temple University and also a Masters in Earth Science from Franklin and Marshall College.  Mr. McAfee taught in several school districts including Milton High School from 1968-1969 and Danville High School from 1969-1971.  A majority of his career was spent as a supervisor for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association from 1973-1986 and as a field representative for the Atlantic Dairy Cooperative from 1986-1996.  Locally, he was employed by Furman’s Foods, Hawkin’s Chevrolet Service Station, Washingtonville Greenhouses and Wal-Mart in Buckhorn PA.   

Mr. McAfee was a member of First Baptist Church of Danville PA where he served as a deacon, usher and nursery helper.  He also taught Adult Sunday School and served on the Education Board.  He was a member of Nittany Mineralogical Society of Penn State. 

He enjoyed backpacking at Mt. Washington, Mt. Mitchell, Smoky Mountains, portion of the Appalachian Trail, Susquehannock Trail and the Black Forest Trail.  Other enjoyments included Mineral Collecting and he was a Mineral Dealer with Down to Earth Minerals.  He traveled to every state except for Hawaii (most major National Parks included) and most of the Canadian Provinces.  He enjoyed being a truck crop farmer, creation science and natural rock masonry at his home. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.  

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet Ida Geary McAfee whom he married June 23, 1962.  Also surviving are four sons; Sean G. McAfee and his wife Lolita of Chicago IL; Bret I. McAfee and his wife Jennifer of Townsend DE; Brandon M. McAfee of Bath NY and Ryan P. McAfee and his wife Rebecca of Jacksonville NC and two daughters; Heather L. Cahill and her husband Carl of San Bruno CA and Tiffany A. McAfee of Danville PA.  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Caleb, Laura, Allison, Lydia, Samuel and Seth Cahill, Ryan and Callan McAfee, Lauren McAfee and Calvin McAfee.  Also surviving is one brother Lance G. McAfee of Linglestown PA.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Terry’s life to be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (Off Route 642 East) Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland and the Reverend Dawes Dunham officiating.  Burial will be held at Jacob’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Paxinos PA.  Friends will be received from 6-8 PM on Wednesday evening at the church and from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM on the day of the service.  The family will provide flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Fellowship Fund or First Baptist Church Missionary Society.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
