B. “Sam” Moser, 87, of 17 Albert Drive Horseheads NY passed away Monday,
March 12, 2012 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center Elmira NY. He was born April
13, 1924 in Riverside PA the son of the late Harry S. and Celia B. Steffen
attended Scott Township High School. Sam served with the United States Army
during World War II with Company A 113 Combat Engineers. He was awarded a
Bronze Star and was “One of the Avengers of Bataan”. He was employed as a
machinist by Ingersoll-Rand Company in Painted Post NY, retiring in 1986.
Sam was a member of Ivy Lodge #397 F & AM in Elmira NY, the Corning
Consistory and American Legion Post 442 in Horseheads NY. One of Sam’s
favorite pastimes was playing cards.
survived by his wife of 66 years, Marian R. Hess Moser. They were married
December 30, 1945 at St. James Evangelical Church in Bendertown, Columbia
County, PA. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Harry S. Moser,
Jr., William A. Moser and his brother Phillip D. Moser who died during World
War II and two sisters, Minnie V. Swank and Dorothy Miller. He is also
survived by nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held
Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 West
Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Dawes Dunham Associate Pastor
at First Baptist Church Danville officiating. Burial will follow in St.
James Cemetery Stillwater PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until
the time of service.
