Leah Pearl Mills

Leah Pearl Mills, 91, formerly of Bloomsburg PA and Riverside PA was promoted to glory on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Center at Maria Joseph Danville PA.  She was born October 11, 1920 the daughter of the late Chester and Clara Jean Force Martenas. 

She was employed by both Magee Carpet and Milco, Inc. in Bloomsburg PA and also by Catawissa Shirt Factory.    

She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church, both of Bloomsburg PA.  She attended First Baptist Church Danville PA. Leah served in Child Evangelism Fellowship work for many years which involved teaching Good News Clubs weekly and also assisting the CEF Director.   

Over the years, Leah was a gentle caregiver for many folks in her home and also for her family.  She loved to read her Bible.  Leah also enjoyed handwork including crocheting, sewing and knitting.  She loved flowers and gardening, cooking and baking.  She did catering for many church functions and served with many church activities.  Her greatest enjoyment was her family and especially her grandchildren.  

She was married for 61 years to the late John Paul Mills who preceded her in death August 11, 2004.  She is survived by two daughters; Nancy E. Bowen and her husband Walter of Riverside PA and Joyce M. Mohr and her husband the Reverend Frank, Jr. of Absecon NJ.  Also surviving are six grandchildren; Frank Mohr, III, Rosann Koble, Joyce Caselli, Heather Benko, Sheldon Mohr and Joel Thomas.  She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by four brothers; Harry, Clark, Bruce and Allen Martenas and two sisters; Edna and Veda Martenas.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.   

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive (Off 642 East) Danville PA with the Reverend David J. Mouw officiating.  Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park Bloomsburg PA.  Friends will be received from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship Memorial Fund PO Box 4375 Harrisburg PA  17111.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
