Donald Paul Bickhart

Donald Paul Bickhart, 68, of 210 Mowery Street Danville PA passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  He was born June 22, 1944 in Danville PA the son of the late Charles W. and Helen B. Barnhart Bickhart.   

He graduated from Ridley Park High School in Ridley Park PA in 1962.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 1962 and served two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded many medals.  Donald was honorably discharged in September 1973. He was a numismatist and started his own business, Don’s Coin Exchange in Danville PA, during which time he graduated from the Diamond Exchange School in New York City earning his degree as a certified gemologist. He retired in 1998. 

Donald was a member of American Legion Post 40 Danville PA and the Danville Elks.

He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.  He enjoyed collecting coins and especially Civil War tokens.   His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family.   

He is survived by his wife, Connie E. Reibsome Bickhart.  Also surviving is one daughter, Sheri Burkland and her husband Keith and two sons; Brian Bickhart and his wife Angela, and Anthony Bickhart and his wife Shelly; all of Danville PA.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Brianne and Addie Jo Burkland; Janae Van Buskirk and her husband Westley; Makaela and Jacob Bickhart and Jessica, Jalen and Jordan Bickhart.

He is survived by one sister, MaryAnn Bickhart Lutz of Danville PA and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers; Charles “Bick” Bickhart and Thomas Bickhart.  A special friend, Demian German, who faithfully took Donald on walks, also survives him. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Donald’s Life to be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at Trinity United Methodist Church 306 Lombard Avenue Danville PA with the Reverend Ronald S. French officiating.  Entombment will follow in The Columbarium at Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard.  Arrangements are under the direction of Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.  www.visneski.com
