Robert E. "Bob" Cameron

Robert E. “Bob” Cameron, 84, of Danville PA  peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.  Born on Sidler Hill in Danville PA on August 1, 1926, he was the son of the late William and Mae Cameron. 

After returning from service in the US Navy during WWII, he married the former Ethel L. Duncan of HummelsWharf,  PA. In addition to performing as a crooner with the Valley Orchestra, he was employed at   Lawrence & Horton’s Ford  Dealership, Selinsgrove Country Club, and the Geisinger Medical Center.   He also worked 26 years at TRW where he was elected President of the local union.  Later in life, he was repeatedly elected as a Supervisor for Derry Township.   As a young man, he was involved with many local organizations including: American Legion, Moose, and the Masonic Temple. When his children were young, he participated as a Scout leader, Little League coach, and was an ardent supporter of local sports teams.  In addition, he was renowned for his ability to train hunting dogs, break horses, and barter.  His knowledge and passion for fancy pigeons, bantams, and other birds were legend. 

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his 5 children; Brenna Wolfe and her husband Jim of Danville PA, Bethany Smith and her husband Richard of Orangeville PA, Bob Cameron and his wife Debra of State College PA, Bill Cameron and his wife Shirley of Phenix City, Alabama and Bruce Cameron and his wife Barbara of Cogan Station PA.  He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his nine brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren, Adam Hampton and Harley Cameron. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Christ Wesleyan Church 363 Stamm Road Milton PA with the Reverend Arlie E. Davis officiating.  Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the Church.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.
