Esther V. Smith, 91

Esther V. Smith, 91, of 2 Race Street Danville PA passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA.  She was born November 9, 1920 the daughter of the late Walter J. and Laura Girton von Blohn. 

She graduated from Danville High School.  Esther was employed for many years by Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA from where she retired.  She was a member of the former St. Johnís United Church of Christ in Mausdale PA where she sang in the choir and also enjoyed singing along with her brother and sisters.  Esther was a member of the Valley Grange.

She was married for 56 years to the late Ardis Earl Smith who preceded her in death on May 9, 2000.  They were married November 6, 1943.  She is survived by one daughter, Sharon K. Warfield and her husband Gary of Silver Springs, Florida.  Also surviving are two grandsons; Tom Gass, Jr. of Danville, PA and Chris Gass of Coal Township, PA and five great-grandchildren; Hillary, Laura, Riley, Matthew and Ryan.  She is also survived by one sister, Eleanor Reynolds of Danville, PA.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Stuart W. vonBlohn and three sisters; Miriam Reichenbach, Ruth Weaver and Yavonne vonBlohn, in infancy.  Several nieces and nephews also survive her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend Mary Schmotzer Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA officiating.  Burial will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery Danville PA.  Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society Montour Unit 1948 E 3rd Street Williamsport PA  17701-3945.  www.visneski.com
