Beatrice S. “Bea” Yeager, 98, formerly of 11
Maple Street Danville PA died on Friday, January 14, 2011 at
Columbia-Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall Danville PA. She was born
September 4, 1912 in Booneville, Clinton County, PA the daughter of the late
Henry Harrison “Harry” and Elizabeth Barbara Schrack Shaffer.
She graduated from Mifflinburg High School in
1930. She graduated from Danville State Hospital Training School for Nurses
in 1933. Mrs. Yeager was employed as a Registered Nurse by Danville State
Hospital for one year and Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA in Outpatient
Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology from August 1953 to August 1982.
Mrs. Yeager was a member of Pine Street
Evangelical Lutheran Church Danville PA where she taught Sunday school in
the Junior Department. She also served actively in The Ladies Guild and The
Lutheran Church Women. She was a charter member and President and Vice
President of the Danville High School Band Auxiliary. Mrs. Yeager also
served as Vice President of the Danville Junior High School PTA. Her
greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed
flower and vegetable gardening.
She was preceded in death by two husbands;
Ross E. Geise in December of 1983 and LeRoy E. Yeager in June 1998.
Surviving is one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Payne and her husband Carl of
Danville PA and four grandchildren; Ronald J. Geise of Duryea PA, Alison
Wagner of Avoca PA, David E. Payne of King of Prussia PA and Betsy J.
Talarico of Fayetteville NY. Seven great-grandchildren also survive her.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald W. Geise in October 1970 and
two brothers; Leo and Glenn Shaffer and two sisters; her identical twin,
Bernice M. Mettler and Julia Spangler. Also surviving are her three
stepdaughters; Joanne Yeager of Danville PA, Linda Snyder of Bloomsburg PA
and Beverly Shrawder of Danville PA along with several step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one stepson, Doyle Yeager on April 14, 1999.
and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Wednesday,
January 19, 2011 at 12 Noon at Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church 407
Pine Street Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend L. Keith Pittsnogle
officiating. Burial will follow in the Episcopal Cemetery Danville PA.
Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the
