Patricia L. Krum, 74, of
10 Lindbergh Avenue Danville PA passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at
Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA. She was born February 27, 1937 in
Bloomsburg PA the daughter of the late Alonzo and Bertelle Hess Pollock.
She graduated from
Danville High School in 1955 and from Bloomsburg University in 1959 with a
degree in Elementary Education. She was employed for 33 ˝ years as an
Elementary School teacher by the Danville Area School District, retiring in
Mrs. Krum was a very
active member of Shiloh United Church of Christ Danville PA. She served as
a Sunday school teacher and was a past consistory member. She started Shiloh
Opportunity Circle (SOC) in which she served as President for many years.
She was actively involved with the Prayer Shawl Ministry at the church. She
had a heart for missions, serving on the Missions Committee at the church
and was a part of several mission trips to the Appalachian Mountains of
Kentucky. She also had a special interest in the Lakota Indian Reservation
Ministry in South Dakota.
She was a member of
Danville Order of Eastern Star where she served as Past Matron. She was
also a member and past President of Danville Women’s Club. Mrs. Krum
enjoyed attending the Danville/Tri-County After 5 Club. She had enjoyed
square dancing with the Danjo Wheelers. Her enjoyments included knitting,
quilting, crocheting, reading and traveling. The greatest enjoyment in her
busy life was spending time with her family whom she adored.
She is survived by her
husband of 51 years, David E. Krum whom she married May 16, 1959. Also
surviving is one son, David E. Krum, Jr. and his wife Sheri of Millville PA
and two daughters; Rebecca L. Getkin and her husband Jay of Virginia and
Saundra L. O’Brien and her husband Terry of Danville PA. She is also
survived by eight grandchildren; Danielle, Tiffany, Megan, Kristen, Patrick,
Matthew, Preston and Brett and three great-grandchildren; Grace, Haden and
Patrick, Jr. Also surviving is one brother, Robert Pollock of Danville PA
and two sisters; Betty Lowery and Sherry Wise; both of Virginia. Numerous
nieces and nephews also survive her.
A Celebration of Pat’s
life will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Shiloh United
Church of Christ 500 Bloom Street Danville PA with her pastor the Reverend
Mary Schmotzer officiating. Burial will be private in the Reformed Cemetery
Danville PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of
service at the church.
The family will provide
flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to either the church or Thomas
